Over the years, I have found that people love this form of art for many reasons.
Mosaic, while absolutely stunning and quite beautiful, doesn't necessarily demand
artistic talent, or even good drawing skills. It is not an intimidating art form
like in other mediums such as watercolor for example, where one less-than-desirable
paint stroke can "ruin" your painting. Mosaic is very forgiving allowing
the student much more freedom to be less than perfect, yet have gorgeous results.
Why? Because that is the very nature of mosaic. Every single piece of whatever
material is being used is supposed to be variously sized and colored. I find that
the lack of pressure to be perfect is exhilarating for most of my students. They
feel they can finally let loose with their creativity. Because of the jigsaw
puzzle-like or collage-like quality, this craft has almost a childlike appeal
in that the tesserae are pieced together to form a whole. The possibilities for
both colors and materials are endless. The grouting can be any color you like.
Only a very small investment for specialist tools is needed, so anybody can start
making mosaics. So, whatever your needs and whatever your style, mosaic has something
to offer you. My classes will get you started into the wonderful world
of mosaics. So take a peek at my website and get crackin'! | |
